Increasing waste generation has become a significant issue over the globe due to the rapid increase in urbanization and industrialization. In the literature, many issues that have a direct impact on the increase of waste and the improper disposal of waste have been investigated. Most of the existing work in the literature has focused on providing a cost-efficient solution for the monitoring of garbage collection system using the Internet of Things (IoT). Though an IoT-based solution provides the real-time monitoring of a garbage collection system, it is limited to control the spreading of overspill and bad odor blowout gasses. The poor and inadequate disposal of waste produces toxic gases, and radiation in the environment has adverse effects on human health, the greenhouse system, and global warming. While considering the importance of air pollutants, it is imperative to monitor and forecast the concentration of air pollutants in addition to the management of the waste. In this pape...

Due to the increased number of individuals disposing of their waste, the sanitation of the waste management system has decreased. The persistent act of disposing waste in shared spaces by individuals may result in significant ramifications for the nearby ecological system. The existence of such circ*mstances in the vicinity has the capability to aggravate an extensive array of severe health conditions. The aforementioned phenomenon will lead to a decrease in the value of the impacted region. Effective waste management practises are necessary to address the issue of waste disposal and maintain cleanliness. The present investigation presents a novel waste management framework that leverages Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled sensor devices to monitor and record the quantity of refuse deposited into receptacles. Upon detection, the system promptly entered an alarm state that was exclusively operable through GSM/GPRS technology. The microcontroller establishes a connection between the GSM/GPRS system and the sensor system in the present system. The smart garbage bin additionally encourages recycling by categorising various types of waste (wet and dry). This guarantees prompt waste collection, lessens litter and unhealthy conditions. This led to the environment becoming more green and to support for Swachh Bharat for cleanliness.

"SMART Dustbin MONITORING USING GSM" is one of the bins automatic system where he is a new creation that can be used by all levels of society, particularly for people with disabilities. In addition, the trash is also equipped with a system of transmission of information through short messages (SMS). It has been modified to make the connection between the bins with Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM). This system will provide information orders (SMS) to the management of waste cleaning to make cleanup or garbage collection which is full. Normally the trash that is on the market is mostly trash manually operated either using the feet or hands to open the lid of a garbage can, and it will be difficult for disabled people to dispose of waste. Indirectly with the automatic trash can assist people with disabilities. Dustbin Monitoring Project Using Smart GSM will also facilitate the management of cleaning in a supermarket or shopping complex to make the monitoring of bins is full. With this project it can reduce the problem of trash filled up and overflowing bins that are not managed well or not makes cleaning the trash that was littered with trash. The project will operate if the sensor is located on the front of the trash can detect or identify an object approaching a 3 feet and automatically opens the lid of a garbage can in a few seconds, after which it will be bins cover closed again. If it is full of garbage, trash will give an audible signal and at the same time it will enable the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and the information is sent through short message (SMS) to the management of cleaning. Trash operating system will also automatically turned off when the bin is full and it does not operate even when there is an object approaching the trash can, until the reset button is pressed. However, this automated garbage bins still much to be improved and made improvements in terms of operation and system aspects therein

AIoT-Based Smart Bin for Real-Time Monitoring and Management of Solid Waste

Aniqa Bano

In the current time, the immense growth in population creates unhygienic environment for the citizen of a society with respect to waste generation. This rapid generation of waste leads to various infectious diseases in the environment. As followed by the traditional municipal system, in our surroundings, we can see over flooding of solid waste in the garbage bins. Solid waste management is a pivotal aspect in traditional systems and it is becoming dangerous in most populated areas. Arduous labor works and costs are required to manage and monitor garbage bins in real time. To maintain the cleanliness of a city and for real-time monitoring of trash bins, a smart bin mechanism (SBM) for smart cities is proposed in this paper, which is based on Artificial Intelligent of Things (AIoT). The SBM works on the 3R concept, that is, Reduce, Recycle, and Reuse. The SBM has the access to get real-time information about each bin and avoid overloading of these bins. The proposed framework reduces ...

Nowadays, individuals are getting steadily dynamic in achieving the possible ways to clean their environment. The concerned teams have initiated other developments to build tidiness. Previously, prior data on filling the trash container was required, which cautions and sends cautioning messages to the city workers for cleaning the trash receptacle on schedule and protecting the city. In this framework, numerous dustbins through urban areas from various regions are associated with utilizing IoT innovation. This program can be used conveniently to verify the status of the dust bin, the garbage in the dust containers, clean the dust bin on time, and maintain the atmosphere's safety and prevent contamination from overflows from the dust containers. So, people don't have to test everyone's work manually, so they'll get a warning if the container is full. A sensor over the garbage container would be placed to detect the full amount of waste, and when it exceeds the excessi...

Internet and its applications have become an integral part of today's human lifestyle. It has become an essential tool in every aspect. Due to the tremendous demand and necessity, researchers went beyond connecting just computers into the web. These researches led to the birth of an Internet of Things (IoT).Things (Physical Devices) that are connected to Internet and sometimes these devices can be controlled from the internet is commonly called as Internet of Things. Now a days, there are a number of techniques which are purposefully used and are being build up for well management of garbage or solid waste. Sensors and IOT module i.e. Wi-Fi are the latest trends and are one of the best combination to be used in the project. Hence a combination of both of these technologies is used in the project. Here we are using raspberry pi. A threshold value is set in the IOT. In these we use ultrasonic sensor .When that value is met then will be sent to the officials through module about the over load and also to clear the garbage as soon as possible. The same thing is displayed on the LCD, which is connected to the output port of the controller. IOT through data available on web portal about all area dustbin.

One of the major problems of most developing towns and metropolises is the degeneration in the state of neatness of the surroundings with respect to waste control. This happens owing to the negligence of the model waste collection method. This negligence produces the spread of waste in communities which in turn generate unhealthy circ*mstances in the environment. It also stimulates several serious diseases amongst the people in proximity and destroys the beauty of the environment. To avoid negligence of the waste and to increase the neatness of the society, waste monitoring system is needed. In this system, the level of the waste is sensed with the help of ultrasonic sensor and the information is sent to the authorized agency via GSM module. PIR sensor is used to detect the motion of the people coming to the waste bin with refuse when the waste bin is full and stopped adding of more refuse to the bin through sound notification. The GSM and the sensors used are interfaced via the Arduino microcontroller. The receive sms will efficiently help to monitor the waste collection to make the surroundings smart, clean and safe.
