Gosei Sentai Dairanger (五星戦隊ダイレンジャー Gosei Sentai Dairenjā, Heavenly Five Squadron Dairanger), individually known as the Dairangers (ダイレンジャー Dairenjā), is a Japanese tokusatsu television show and the 17th entry in the long running Super Sentai franchise of superhero programs. Produced by Toei Company Ltd. after the following of Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger, along with Zyu1.5, and Zyu2, the two halves of the 16.5th entry in the Super Sentai series. This was broadcast from February 19, 1993 to February 11, 1994 at TV Asahi, with a total of 50 episodes. For international distributions, Toei gave this series the name title as Star Rangers.
Similar to Zyurangers, Dairangers was the second Sentai series to be adapted as the next installment for Power Rangers. However, only the action sequences between the Chi Beasts mechas and some of the monsters were used for an extended version for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. With the exception of using the suit of Kibaranger and the Mythical Chi Beast mechas, none of the Dairanger suits were ever used until Power Rangers Super Megaforce.
The Dairangers are composed of the descendants of the Dai Tribe who use Qi powers to fight the evil Gorma Tribe who plans to conquer the world.

History of Dairangers[]
8,000 years ago and before the current Dairangers came to be, the Daos civilization flourished in Southern China where it consisted of three tribes who lived in harmony. These tribes happens to be the Dai tribe, the Gorma tribe and the Shurs tribe, who are the predecessors of today's humanity. Everything was peaceful until one day, the Gorma tribe attempted in taking over Daos Empire leading the war between the Dai and Gormas to commence which their continued for 5,000 years, led by the Gorma Triumvirate. Soon, the Mythical Chi Beasts emerged from the heavens to oppose the Gorma, whose powers had increased to the point where they could turn themselves into monsters through the You power. Due to this, five Dai warriors' emerged as their chi powers had increased to the point where they could control the Mythical Chi Beasts leading them to be their partners and help them battle against the Gormas. These Dai warriors became known as the original Dairangers of the past. Eventually, the war ends with the disappearance of both the Dai and Gorma Tribes. In 1993, the Gorma Tribe, one of the Daos' two missing branches, re-emerged once more to take over the world like they originally did back in the Daos Empire all those centuries ago. To counter them and having a strange connection with the Gormas, Master Kaku assembled a team of five youths with high levels of chi into training them to fight against the Gormas as the new Dairangers.
Upon further revelations of Iron Face Chouryou's appearance, their leader Ryo learns a dark secret past Master Kaku has kept from him in regards to his father, Chouryou, whom many believed he was dead. His father was once the original leader of the past Dairangers and led them into battle against the Gorma tribe but due to the promise of power and immortality by High Priest Saw, Chouryou betrayed his teammates to their deaths by becoming part of the Gormas and became known as Iron Face Chouryou presently. Learning the truth and change of heart, Chouryou defied his master High Priest Saw in order to defend his son until eventually dying in his son's arms. Despite everything Chouryou has done, the spirits of his teammates forgave him and gave the Dairangers the ability to combine their Mythical Chi Beasts mechas into their powerful form known as the Gosei Gattai Dairen'Oh.
