Happy National PR Day! Today, we celebrate the amazing world of PR! Let's be honest – this industry is not for the faint of heart. Craving a stress-free, nine-to-five with a hefty paycheck? PR might not be your cup of tea. Chaos and uncertainty are our constant companions, and stress levels? Well, let's just say PR consistently ranks in the top 10 most stressful jobs. But every day is a whirlwind of challenges and triumphs, where no two days are ever the same.Sure, not everyone understands what we do, but that’s what makes us special. The average Joe sees a press release and thinks "PR." Cute. We’re always behind the scenes, shaping narratives and perceptions, fighting crises on a daily basis, and navigating the ever-changing landscape of media and public opinion. So raise a mug (preferably filled with something stronger than coffee at this point) to all the Comms and advocacy folks out there! We live in chaos, and yes, it's pretty awesome (even if it involves questionable life choices) 😂#publicrelations #career #communications #PR #LinkedInNewsIndia Mrinall Dey (He/Him) Bhavya Sharma Rozelle L. Neither of my parents come from anything close to a communications background – actually, years into my career they still can't totally explain to their friends what my PR job actually entails. But one of the principles that has helped me see the most success in media relations is something I learned from them: if you never ask, the answer is always no. My upbringing was peppered with unique experiences (meeting celebrities! being grand marshalls of a Disney World parade! occasionally getting freebies and upgrades!) because my parents had the audacity to ask. Maybe it's because as a child I didn't really see all the times they were told no, but the rare but extravagant yeses instilled that same audacity in me. In media relations, the finer details of how you ask are important, whether you're asking a reporter to consider a story or a client to take a risk on a mediagenic angle. My proudest wins and best professional relationships have started with a bold question asked with a focus on building a personal connection regardless of the answer. Even when the answer's no, the relationship is built in the asking. #pr #mediarelations #pitching

🌟 Shifting Focus in Public Relations: A Call for More Positive News 🌟As PR professionals, our primary goal is to spotlight the brands we work with in top-tier media outlets. However, thorough research often leads us through a barrage of gloomy headlines. This constant negativity can take a toll not just on our work but also on our mental health. It hit me hard today after a barrage of really negative stories on Yahoo! That’s why I’m making a conscious effort to pivot a percentage of my media relations efforts. While continuing to aim for high-impact coverage, I’m now also seeking opportunities in uplifting spaces like The Daily Optimist and Today's Good News sections. It's essential that we balance our exposure and contribute to a positive narrative.Let's consider emphasizing positive news more regularly. After all, nurturing our minds with optimism isn't just good PR—it's good for our well-being too.#PublicRelations #PositiveNews #MentalHealthAwareness

A note to publicists: make sure to pitch reporters who cover a beat that relates to your pitch. I got a pitch about Black love and another about a playboy bunny. I am a business/careers reporter. Make sure to do your research! #publicrelations #pr #journorequest
