Patrick McLaughlin Patrick McLaughlin, 29, a former Sacramento resident, was shot to death last Thursday in Salt Lake City in what police there called a domestic dispute. According to detectives, McLaughlin went to the aid of a woman involved in a dispute, and was shot with a revolver. Police arrested Scott 0. Andrus, 56, on a charge of criminal homicide. McLaughlin, a taxi driver and chauffeur, was a native Sacramentan and the son of Elmer McLaughlin of Sacramento.

Taxi Drivers' Strike Lasts 3 Hours, But Wins Fare Increase BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) Taxi drivers went on strike and immediately won their demand for a hefty fare increase to offset the rising cost of gasoline. The city government announced the fare increase an hour after the strike began, and the drivers slowly began picking up passengers again. Since a fare increase in May passengers had been paying 30 cents plus 3 cents for every 140 yards traveled. Chinese Stage Hit Has Political Plot HONG KONG (AP) China's latest stage hit is a historical drama about the arrest and kidnapping of the late nationalist Chinese President Chiang Kai-shek by two of his generals during the Chinese-Japanese War, the Peking Daily Kwangmin reported in a recent edition. The generals kidnapped Chiang in 1936 to pressure him to unite with the communists against the Japanese rather than fight simultaneous campaigns against both armies.
